Stay-at-Home Prom

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know we had such a blast this weekend throwing senior prom for my baby sister. The majority of the United States has been quarantined and closed down since April. This means there’s a high likelihood you know someone who had to postpone their wedding, had their graduation canceled, or had their senior prom canceled. For my little sister, both her high school graduation and prom were no longer an option for the safety of the students. So, we decided to bring prom to her!

We start scheming a couple weeks ago and formed an unofficial “prom committee.” Although this may not have been the prom my sister had originally anticipated, it was filled with a “promposal,” homemade corsage, Champagne punch for the adults (See recipe here!), games, a bunch of yummy goodies, and lots of dancing and laughter.

My brother and his fiancé even made a homemade roulette and craps board. You can check them out on my Instagram “At Home Prom” highlight on my Instagram stories. I lost all my chips it under 30 minutes, so I will definitely never gamble in Vegas!

The vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing I made for my sister to ask her to prom. Definitely not my finest baking moment, but they were absolutely delicious and gone within 24-hours.

Forever my dancing partner! Matt has been such a trooper quarantined with me here in Charlottesville. People ask me all the time how we don’t get on each other’s nerves while quarantined, and honestly I have no idea haha. He’s my best friend and we’re just used to spending 24-7 together if we have the opportunity.

My jumpsuit was another Express find that surprisingly fit perfectly and is selling out fast. I’m 5’ 2” and always struggle to find jumpsuits that fit because I have a short torso but long legs. This jumpsuit comes in petite sizes and seriously doesn’t disappoint. I had originally planned to wear this jumpsuit to my college graduation, and I was disappointed that I may not have anywhere to wear it to after our ceremony was cancelled. At-home prom was such an exciting reason to finally get to wear it!

You may remember the floral maxi dress my sister is wearing. It’s one of my favorite dresses from my April collaboration with Express and just so happened to also fit my sister perfectly! The dress is now available in a few different patterns (blue & white, blue floral) and I’m definitely having to restrain myself from purchasing another.

I hope you guys had a good weekend and are doing well during quarantine.
