The Best Purple Shampoos for Blondes

Where are all of my fake blondes at? I don’t know about you guys, but my hair is very quickly revealing I am a fake blonde this quarantine. The last time I dyed my hair was back in February, so my dark auburn roots are out to party. Although some people can pull off the dark roots ombré look, I definitely cannot!

Thankfully, I have a few tried and true purple shampoos that help extend the life of my blonde. If you haven’t heard of or used purple shampoo before, it is a game changer for blonde hair (or blue shampoo for brunettes!). This article from Martix does a fantastic job explaining what purple shampoo is and what the benefits are.

Redken Blondage Shampoo

Of all the blonde shampoos I’ve tried over the years, this Redken Color Extend Blondage shampoo is the best value blonde shampoo. My sister actually introduced me to this shampoo after trying and loving it.

This blonde shampoo smells so good and is actually extremely affective at toning my hair. I’d say it’s the best at-home alternative to the results you can achieve with toning shampoo at a salon. In addition, some of cheaper shampoo options don’t do a thing to tone the brass out of my hair and leave my hair feeling damaged. I’ve been dyeing my hair since middle school, so it’s damaged enough as is!

Furthermore, it is often included in deals at Ulta making it a better band for your buck.

Although many are opting out of traveling this summer, Amika offers a great mini size purple shampoo that leave your hair bright, shiny and toned. Yes, $12 is expensive for a mini travel-size bottle, but a little goes a long way. I highly recommend mixing this product with your everyday shampoo to make the product last longer.

John+Frieda+blonde+shampoo

If you don’t want to splurge on your hair during quarantine, (trust me, I get it), John Frieda has a great option for a budget-friendly, everyday lightening shampoo. It definitely isn’t as intense as the purple shampoos above, but this product is good for everyday use and gradually makes your hair lighter for natural looking results. Although this shampoo is technically not a purple shampoo, it is still a great option.
