March Wedding Update: Hair & Makeup, Matthew's Suit & More
Wow, how is it already April? I feel like I blinked and it’s summertime again! March was a pretty slow month for wedding planning. To be perfectly honest, it was a month filled with conversations with different vendors and trying to get estimates to incorporate into our wedding budget. Because we have our caterers and venue already locked down, I’m less stressed than I have been in a while when it comes to wedding planning.
Wedding Hair & Makeup
I’ve had a few different conversations with hair/makeup artists, and I finally decided to go with the amazing team at Lovie’s Salon & Spa. My trial is scheduled for the morning of the rehearsal dinner which is a little nerve-racking since it’s so close to the wedding, but I’m having faith that everything will turn out perfect. It’ll also be nice to not have to worry about my hair and makeup for the rehearsal dinner. The plan is for the team to do my hair and makeup, and then change my hair and makeup slightly so it isn’t the same for both events. For the wedding day, they’re coming to the venue in the morning to do the hair and makeup for the bridal party.
Conversations with Photographers
I’ve chatted with a few wedding photographers to get a feel for different wedding packages and the prices associated. Everyone has been amazing, but truthfully, I've been dragging my feet on this one because I have so many amazing friends and family members that are amazing photographers. Due to this, it kind of seems silly to spend $$$ on a wedding photographer, but I also want everyone attending the wedding to enjoy themselves and not have to feel like they’re working.
Wedding Band/DJ
I’ve been struggling a while with the whole band vs DJ debate. I really want a band, but it seems like our options are limited off season in the OBX. Ideally we’d have a band that would be able to do the ceremony music and cocktail hour in addition to the reception, but we’re struggling to find someone in the OBX area. Matthew’s Suit
This is the update I’m most excited about… Matthew picked out his suit for the wedding at JoS. A. Bank and looks so stinking amazing! It’s being altered right now, but I can’t wait to go pick it up and have Matt try it on again. Both Matt and all of his grooms men are wearing navy suits with tan/brown shoes. This is the closest blue suit I can find to what he ended up getting for the big day.
