December Wedding Update: Wedding Dress Shopping & Bridesmaids

Happy 2021! I can’t believe we finally made it through 2020 and made it to the year Matthew and I are getting married. December was a great month for wedding planning because I said YES TO THE DRESS! Ready about my tips for saying “yes to the dress” in this blog post.

I know I say this every month, but MAN, this month flew by! I definitely didn’t end up getting as much wedding planning done as I had planned. However, one thing the big things I can check off my to-do list is saying “yes to the dress!” Matthew made me promise to not show him any pictures from trying on wedding dresses until after the wedding, not even the misses that aren’t my dress. UGH! So, the sneak peak on Instagram stories is all you guys get until November 2021. It’s going to be so hard not to spill.

Wedding Dress Shopping

I’ll keep this one short and sweet because I wrote an entire post about my wedding dress shopping experience (Read here). Although it still felt a little early to go dress shopping, I’m glad we went when we did. It definitely alleviated some stress and pressure to know I still had time to find a dress if I didn’t find “the one” that day. Additionally, my dress won’t be ready for pickup until July (!!!), so I definitely would have been freaking out if we waited until the spring to start finding a dress.

Save-the-Dates

One of my goals for December was to send out save-the-dates, but with all of the USPS delays this month and the holidays definitely sneaking up on us, we decided to hold off until things were a little less hectic. I went back and forth on where to order our Save-the-Dates from and ultimately decided I loved a design from The Knot.

Our Venue

I was talking with my Mom and Grandma over Christmas about trying to figure out a time to drive down to Corolla late winter/early spring the tour the venue in person. They have an amazing virtual tour online, but I wanted to go and see the place for myself to get a feel for everything. We are taking the DIY route for all of the wedding and reception decor, so seeing the place in person will help make sure I don’t purchase to little or too much. The plan as of now is to drive down in February for an in-person tour!

Bridesmaid Proposals

I think I’m going to write a separate post on my bridesmaid proposals, but I asked 3/5 of my bridesmaids over the holidays! Sadly COVID hasn’t made it possible to see my final two bridesmaids in person, but I got too excited and ended up asking my best friend Claire to be a bridesmaid over FaceTime back in September. (I’m not good at holding in secrets during our FaceTime wine nights! 😂) I can’t wait to have each of them stand up there with me on November 12th!
