Honest Review of Equilibria, CBD for Women
This past year has had its fair share of stressful moments. I am naturally a very anxious person (always have been and probably always will be). As you can imagine, graduating college amid a global pandemic, starting my professional career, and launching a startup company certainly didn’t help my naturally-anxious-self.
I’ve played around for years with the idea of using CBD to help cope with my stressful environment and reduce anxiety. It seems like CBD is everywhere; there are CBD candies, CBD infused baked goods and CBD storefronts popping up left and right in the D.C. metro area. After a few months of digging into what CBD truly is and the health benefits it provides, I decided to give Equilibria a try starting in May. Equilibria offers clinical-grade, farm-fresh CBD products ranging from drops and softgels to relief balms.
I’m sharing what I learned during my CBD search, and why I ultimately chose Equilibria to help you make an informed decision for your health.
What is CBD?
CBD (or cannabinol, if we want to get fancy) is a type of chemical naturally found in marijuana and hemp plants. CBD is derived from the hemp plant and does not produce psychoactive effects of feeling high that are commonly associated with THC found in marijuana. Over the past few years, studies have indicated that CBD can help anxiety, depression, sleep and increase physical and mental well-being. However, according to Equilibria, CBD is not intended to “diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or ailment.”
Benefits of CBD
According to Healthline, CBD can offer some of the following benefits:
Relieves pain
Reduces anxiety and depression
Alleviates cancer-related symptoms
Reduces acne
Benefits heart health
Multiple studies, including this study conducted in January of 2020, suggests that CBD produces anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This is not surprising because inflammation often times is tied directly to pain, discomfort and acne.
Why Equilibria?
There are so many CBD products on the market, but not all are created equally. Equilibria was founded by women, for women. They offer clinical-grade, farm-fresh CBD products ranging from drop and softgels to relief balms, and vary in strength from regular strength (10mg) to extra strength (1500mg). Additionally, they offer Rapid Calming Melts for on-the-go use that are only 5mg. It was important to me to select a CBD product that was approved by friends and family. After I read Carly’s blog post about her experience, I was sold.
I first purchased the Equilibria Balance+ Collection in May. The set consists of two full-spectrum CBD products: Daily Drops and Daily Softgels. Both products, and the all Equilibria product offerings, are single-sourced, hand-harvested, non-GMO, gluten free and organic.
Truthfully, when I first received these products I felt overwhelmed. I had no idea which product to start with and how to start incorporating them into my daily routine. Thank goodness Equilibria provides details instructions and a dosage consultant to help you figure out your idea dosage and use case.
The process was actually super simple, it just seemed overwhelming. I started with one full dropper of the Daily Drops in the evening. You are supposed to hold them under your tongue from 30-60 seconds and then swallow. The Daily Softgel should be taken with your first meal of the day. It’s that simple!
My Experience
As I mentioned, I started off super overwhelmed and unsure how to best go about using Equilibria. When I first started using the Daily Softgel, I wasn’t fully sold. They made me feel tired and slightly lethargic, but I will say they have since grown on me and no longer make me feel sleepy. I’m not certain if that’s just giving my body time to adjust, or other conditions outside of my control (i.e. dark/rainy days also make me sleepy). However, from the get-go I loved the Daily Drops at nighttime. When I’m stressed, I have a hard time falling asleep at night without my mind racing. Since starting the Daily Drops a month ago, I haven’t had any issues falling and staying asleep at night because of stressors.
