I Switched To Natural Deodorant

I switched to natural deodorants after my everyday Secret deodorant just stopped working. No joke! I would put it on and within an hour was sweating like a champ and smelled like I had done a full workout. Sorry, TMI, but I am uber sensitive to smells and found myself reapplying deodorant at least 3-4 times a day.

Growing up, my mom was super against antiperspirant deodorants because aluminum-based compounds found in many antiperspirants have negative health effects. Now whether this is true or not is up to scientists, but nothing good could come from applying antiperspirant multiple times a day.

So, I decided to give Native deodorant a try. Just for a little background, I had tried Native two or so years ago, and LOVED it but found it broke me out in a rash. After my Secret deodorant stopped being affective, I went back to the drawing board and was reintroduced to Native. One of the main reasons I was interested in trying Native again, is because they came out with a new sensitive formula since the last time I used their product.

I decided to try three new scents: coconut & vanilla, cotton & lily (sensitive), and sweet peach & nectar. After my first week of trying Native again, I was convinced my previous rash was a result of using a specific scent, not the deodorant formula itself. I can’t remember the exact scent, but it is no longer available, so maybe I wasn’t the only one who experienced issues.

Native offers the opportunity to “build your pack” where you can pick and choose 3 different deodorants for $30. I know, $10/deodorant is insane, but I am willing to spend a little more for effective and safe products.

To be perfectly candid, my first week using Native was a little rough. I could NOT STOP SWEATING. This is TMI and totally nasty, but I literally had beads of sweat running down my arm for the first week. I am convinced my body just needed time to get adjusted to the natural deodorant, because now I have no problem at all.

After a week of letting my body adjust, I am now loving the Native deodorant. The Cotton & Lily has been my favorite scent so far because it the scent isn’t overpowering and smells very natural. I can’t wait to try out the Peach & Nectar or Coconut & Vanilla next. Fingers crossed these scents are equally amazing!
