Goodbye Pores with Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare

I have been a Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare fan since I was in middle school. When I first expressed interest in wearing makeup to my mom, she directed me to a lightweight Dr. Dennis Gross tinted moisturizer. Although I’m all about affordable fashion & lifestyle over here on the blog, I believe there are some items that we can’t compromise on. For instance, I have been dealing with acne since middle school. Thank goodness my active acne days are far behind me, but I have struggled for four or five years trying to get rid of those dang acne scars. Treatment for acne scars and healthy skin are definitely not something I’m able to compromise on after years of less than perfect skin.

My skin struggles have been kind of a vicious cycle. My pores are clogged and my complexion is dull from wearing makeup all day, but my skin is so terrible I hate going out without makeup. Every night I work to unclog my pores and treat my skin, but I’m truly only undoing the damage from that day versus making an actual seeable change. Then I wake up the next morning and apply more makeup. Can anyone else relate?

Dr. Dennis Gross skincare has treatments for just about any skin concern: dry skin, wrinkles, enlarged pores, dullness, sensitive skin & redness, acne and more. For me, my biggest concerns were enlarged pores and acne scars, so when the Dr. Dennis Gross team reached out inviting me to try their BRAND NEW Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting & Refining Serum, I said yes without even skipping a beat! I knew these products would be able to end the vicious cycle, and help me feel more confident in going makeup free.

In addition to the serum, the Dr. Dennis Gross team was also kind enough to send along the Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel. These two products work in conjunction to combat uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and enlarged pores.

MY DR. DENNIS GROSS ROUTINE:

I received the serum and peel pads on July 26th and used them for a full week before sharing this review. As soon as the package arrived in the mail, I couldn’t wait to try it out. I used the serum morning and night and the peels every night.

I started my nightly routine with cleansing my face and then applying the Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel. These peels are a two-step process with seven acids to help smooth fine lines, minimize the look of pores, and improve the appearance of uneven tone & texture. Step one is to exfoliate and smooth your skin, and step two is an anti-aging neutralizer. Directions say to use step one until the pad is dry, allow your face to dry and then proceed with step two. My face felt slightly tingly when I used step one then felt tight after step two. I know this isn’t the best descriptions, but it’s difficult to explain!!

After the peel pads, I applied two drops of the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting & Refining Serum. This pore perfecting & refining serum is a brand new product that just launched earlier this week! I was so impressed with this product because I was expecting it to dry my skin, but it really didn’t over dry or irritate my skin in the slightest. My face started slightly peeling after about three days of using the peel pads and serum every night. One thing to note, is that I ended this nightly routine with my all-time favorite Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. This Elemis product is super hydrating, so although my face started to peel, it probably would have been more significant peeling if I wasn’t using this Elemis cream.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I cannot say I saw a huge difference to my skin in a week, but granted my pores and acne scars are pretty terrible. I am going to stick with this same routine for a month (peel pad followed by the serum) and see if that makes a difference. Although I didn’t see a huge difference in my pores, I did notice I had a brighter and more even complexion after one night of using the serum!
