Binge-Worthy Documentaries On Netflix
With Friends no longer on Netflix as of January 1, 2020, I found myself in a major show hole. I’ve always been interested in documentaries, so I decided now would be a great time to explore some of the documentaries Netflix has to offer. During my search, I found 4 Binge-Worthy Netflix Documentaries.
The Dawn Wall | The Dawn Wall is a 2018 documentary about free climber, Tommy Caldwell, on his journey to scale the Dawn Wall of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. This hour and forty-minute documentary is inspiring and so well done! I highly recommend checking this one out with the whole family.
CHEER | Cheer is a Netflix documentary that follows the nationally-ranked Navarro Cheer Team as they prepare for the National Cheerleading Championship in Daytona. I was on the fence whether or not to watch Cheer, but I was completely invested after the first episode. I was actually shocked to watch the blood, sweat and tears that go into competitive cheerleading and how much gymnastics that is included in the support.
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez | Several of my friends have watched this documentary and said it’s worth watching. This 3 episode limited series takes you on a journey as Aaron Hernandez goes from NFL players to convicted killer. I want to watch this documentary at some point, but definitely need someone to watch it with me. It seems like the type of series that could give you nightmares!
Miss Americana | You don’t have to be a Taylor Swift fan to enjoy this documentary. I thought the raw and realness of her story was captured so well and it was super relatable. It’s crazy to have a front-row seat to witness all of the pressure Taylor still puts on herself even though she’s a huge superstar. I was simultaneously jamming along the entire time and stalking Joe Alwyn on social media!
Our Planet | Our Plant is an Emmy Award winning 2019 Netflix documentary that examines the effects of climate change on different ecosystems around the world. Our Planet is an oldie but a goodie with some pretty incredible cinematography of animals from around the globe. I still can’t get over the Oceans episode that takes you on a journey to explore the coral reefs and how climate change is affecting an entire underwater ecosystem that relies on coral for safety, nutrients and more.
