All About Bridesmaids: Getting Ready, BHLDN Bridesmaid Dresses and More
I’m FINALLY getting around to sharing more wedding content. It seems like I blinked and we’ve officially been married for a month! We got married, left for our honeymoon in California for a week and then came back the week of Thanksgiving. All in all, Matthew and I only worked about a week in November. I wish I could say I strategically planned it that way, but that’s just how it happened to work out with the dates the venue was available. But, today’s post isn’t about us! It’s all about the bridesmaids!
I had three bridesmaids: my sister Lauren who was my maid of honor, my sister-in-law Amanda and my best friend Claire. I asked all of my bridesmaids about a year in advance with a personalized wine glass and a bottle of Prosecco so we had plenty of time to prepare.
The plus side of a quasi-destination wedding in Corolla, NC is that we were together for the week leading up to the wedding. It made the time leading up to the wedding a little more special to all have that time together.
The gorgeous bridal suite was separate from the main house, and it was nice to have a separate space to relax and get ready the morning of the wedding. For the day of the wedding, hair and makeup came to us at the venue. It’s normally a tad more expensive to have them come to you, but with how much stress goes into a wedding - especially day of - it was well worth it to not have to stress about going anywhere. We got ready, blasted Taylor Swift and drank mimosas all morning.
I was listening to an episode of The Morning Toast where they talked about how it seemed EVERYONE had a wedding the weekend of November 12th. We were all blessed with the release of Taylor’s version of Red dropping that morning. Jackie (one of the hosts of the podcast) revealed she was in a wedding this weekend, and they were blasting Red on repeat in the bridal suite. SO FUNNY! We can totally relate. We listened to Red all morning while we were getting our hair and makeup done in the bridal suite.
The morning of the wedding I gave each bridesmaid a blue satin lace robe, Kate Spade earrings and a handwritten note. I wore the same satin white lace robe with a white slip dress.
We started shopping for bridesmaid dresses back in January of 2021. I knew I wanted to do dusty blue bridesmaid dresses, but I wanted the bridesmaids to decide which style they felt the most comfortable wearing. Amanda (my sister-in-law) and I went to David’s Bridal and BHLDN to try on dresses and see how the dresses looked in person. I was shocked at David’s Bridal and how different the dusty blue color looked in person versus online. We ended up going to BHLDN in Georgetown and fell in love with the Cali Satin Charmeuse Midi Dress in Dusty Blue. Lauren and Claire were on FaceTime and agreed that it was their favorite dress. I thought the style and color were both perfect for a beach wedding!
