Where have you always dreamed of traveling? For years I’ve had wanderlust envisioning summers in Italy eating gelato, swimming in Blue Lagoon in Iceland & staying in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora. I’ve always said one day; one day I will travel and experience what cultures across the world will have to offer.
Costa Rica — Summer 2015
However, there was always one thing in the back of my head keeping me from wanting to study abroad; call it fear, call it anxiety, call it whatever you want, but it was there. When I traveled to Costa Rica the summer after my sophomore year of high school, I chose a program that was only two-weeks long because I didn’t think I wanted to be gone for any longer; I was right. When I started college and taking a semester or summer abroad came into play, I was a bit uneasy with the idea.
The more I allowed this fear enter my head, the more I wanted to break free of it entirely. I knew I had always wanted to travel to Italy, so I started there and began searching for study abroad programs in Italy that allowed me to study Communications. The more I searched, the more the puzzle pieces seemed to fall into place. Through CEA Study Abroad, I’m able to study Communications and Global Competence in Florence, Italy for a month this summer while also traveling to Milan, Cinque Terre and who knows where else to experience food, culture and the Italian way of life.
In just a few short weeks, I’ll be heading off to Florence, Italy for the summer. I am equally nervous as I am excited to spend a month in what some have told me is “one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever experience.” I cannot wait to bring you guys along for the journey and shared pictures, videos, outfits, food, etc. as I go.
Now I want to ask you, do you have the fear in the pit of your stomach about travel? Where have you always wanted to go or experience but never have?
In honor of summer travel & stepping outside of your comfort zone, one lucky winner will win TWO Bath & Body Works candles. One says DREAM in honor of the places we all dream of going & the second is Rio De Janeiro with the coordinates on the top signifying all the places around the world that aren’t out of our reach.
