7 Trends To Try This Spring

Prior to coming to college, I always had a school uniform: khaki skirts, button downs, knee socks; the works. So, imagine how long after leaving high school it has taken me to build my closet. Answer: I just completed my sophomore year of college, and my closet is still lacking a ton of your basic necessities.

Last summer I went to Nordstrom because I was in DESPERATE need of summer clothes. I didn’t have a single pair of shorts that fit me, and I only owned one dressy tank top (that actually has a massive bleach stain from the dorm washing machines). After trying multiple brands Nordstrom carried, and having nothing fit, the saleswomen suggested Loft might be a better fit for my petite frame — I’m 5’2. When I walked into Loft for the first time, I felt like a kid in the candy store! For once, I found cute clothes that actually fit! Here are some of my favorite spring trends — all available at Loft!

Sweater tank — If you do not currently have a white sweater tank in your closet you need one! I purchased a white cropped sweater tank from Express a couple years ago, and it is by far the most worn item in my closet. They go with EVERYTHING!

Shirtdress — I love a good shirtdress for summer! A couple years ago I purchased two shirtdresses from J.Crew; a white and a navy one. I wear them as coverups, with espadrille heels for brunch, and throw them for lounge-wear after a long day in the sun.

Girlfriend jeans — You can never go wrong with a comfy t-shirt and a pair of girlfriend jeans. Remeber this outfit from Monkees of Charlottesville this past summer? You can read the post here!

White blazer — I’m a nerd for a good white blazer; throw it on with skirt & blouse or a silky, lightweight dress. Below is the outfit I wore to the FMDS fashion show a couple weeks ago.

Pajama sets — I’m a pajama set kind of gal. lived in a dorm last year so cute pajama sets were my reassurance that I’d look somewhat presentable if the fire alarm went off a 2 a.m.

Fluid pants — You can’t even imagine the comfort of fluid pants! I purchased a pair from Loft last summer, and they are still my go-to for this summer.

Jumpsuits — Every girl needs a jumpsuit in her wardrobe. They are so classic & will turn heads at every party.

What trends are you loving for spring? Are you a big Loft fan too??
