Dennis Gross Alpha Beta® Gradual Glow Pad for Face

I first tried Dr. Dennis Gross products when I was in middle school. Every day I wore Dr. Dennis Gross tinted moisturizer to help hide my imperfections. (This was so long ago nothing even resembling the product is still on the market.) By high school, my skin had gotten so bad that I made the switch from tinted moisturizer to a heavy foundation. I HATED the feeling of wearing heavy make-up, but I didn’t think I had any other options.

In college, I was introduced to IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50+. I love this product and still wear it on a daily basis, but in my perfect scenario, I don’t want to have to wear foundation except on special occasions (date nights, family dinner, night out with friends, etc.).

Then I found Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta ® Glow Pad Self-Tanner for Face, and all my prayers were answered. Mess- free & streak-free application with exfoliating and anti-aging benefits. I’m sold! I tested out the gradual glow self-tanner for face for a week, and here is what happened.

The first night I showered, cleansed my face, applied my LUSH tea tree water toner & Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (I use morning & night during the winter), and then the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Gradual Glow Pad. I applied Jergens self-tanner to the rest of my body and the glow pads to my neck and face. After three hours, I took a damp washcloth and wiped my face. One of my biggest concerns was waking up completely orange because I have extremely fair skin! In the morning my neck did look a tad orange, so I’m glad I didn’t leave it on my face the entire night.

On night two, I decided to skip the glow pads and only apply my Curology prescription. (I skipped my prescription the previous night because I wasn’t sure how the two products would mix.) The next morning I woke up with the same peeling as I had the previous morning, but after applying a thick moisturizer, it wasn’t a problem.

Then came the true test, trying both my Curology prescription and the glow pads. I applied my prescription in-between my moisturizer and the glow pads and this time did not rise off the glow pads after three hours.

The next morning OH MY GOSH I was so happy. My skin was honestly glowing and looked so bright and healthy that I didn’t even want to put on foundation! (Don’t believe me? check out my Instagram story in the highlights.)

No filter & no makeup! These are my genuine results. In the after (right), I have the Dr. Dennis Gross glow pads on my and Jergins self-tanner on my body. The picture on the left was taken prior to trying out the glow pads. I’m not wearing any makeup (be nice!).

One thing I was worried about was the smell of the product. I read multiple reviews talking about how terrible and repulsive it smelled. Well, I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell, and I detected no odor whatsoever. Reviews also had people complaining about the exfoliating aspect saying it didn’t do anything. The exfoliating aspect definitely worked for me! The first morning I woke up with peeling around my nose, chin, and jawline.

Conclusion:

I can definitely see how useful this product would be in the summertime! Because I always wear SPF 50+ on my face and a hat in the summer, my face is always 3 times paler than the rest of me! With this product + sunscreen, I may have just found my summer “foundation!”
