What to Wear to Your Sorority Event

Before you read this post, I wanted to share a short disclaimer. No, I am not in a sorority, and yes, every sorority is different, but I always say that if you’re comfortable and love what you’re wearing, you can’t go wrong.

Last fall, I went back and forth for some time about wanting to join a sorority. It was never really something I had considered, but I figured I’d give it a try and attend an info session.

Because Virginia Tech rushes in the spring, I had plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons. I finally decided that I didn’t have the time to commit to a sorority, and that was a decision I was ok with! I never thought twice about this decision until Claire got dressed up for her first formal sorority event. I ached to get dressed up, do my hair and make-up, and reconsidered if I made a mistake not joining a sorority. However, Claire is the best and promised me she’d take me to an event.

Fast forward to last weekend, I finally had the opportunity to be her date for the evening!

I ordered this dress from Tobi for the event

When I first tried on this dress, I could help but burst out laughing. It was ridiculous! The deep-v went all the way down to my belly button and was completely open on either side. NOTHING was left to the imagination. Thankfully with 5 safety pins and a little thread, the dress was a lot more manageable.

Once the dress was safely pinned, I was able to focus on how dang cute it was! The open lace detail in the back was so much fun and felt super sexy without being overkill.

I’m super boring when it comes to accessories. I wear my David Yurman ring, my favorite necklace that Matt gave me, and two dainty rings every. single. day. If I had more time to plan out my outfit, I might have added a pair of earrings or found a pair of nude block heels to wear. (Matt and I did spend an afternoon searching around town for a pair of heels, but no one had any selection in size 5.5! Tiny feet problem.)

Honestly though, how perfect does Claire look?!?!

I think a LBD is a safe bet for any event. They’re elegant, timeless, sexy, and there are surprisingly a lot of variations.
