Q&A: College Life, Weird Facts & More!

I can’t believe the last time I did an “About Me” post was my freshman year of high school! A LOT has changed since then, so I figured it was time to sit down, reintroduce myself, and answer some of your questions.

Q: Where do you go to college and what are you majoring in?

I am starting my second year of college at Virginia Tech as a Communications major. I came into college as a Fashion Merchandising & Design major with the hopes of adding a double major in Marketing Management. However, things don’t always work out the way you planned, and THAT’S OK! I’m just taking things one step at a time and am excited to see what the future has in store for me.

Q: How tall are you?

Ok, I’m cracking up at this questions. I say I’m 5’3”, but I’m actually just a little over 5’2”… (Can’t blame a girl for rounding up!) I’m not kidding in my Instagram bio when I say I’m an “extra petite fashion blogger!”

Q: What are your favorite hobbies?

I love traveling and hiking. There is nothing that clears my head more than getting out of my everyday routine. My family recently traveled to California and I shared the trip here on the blog! (You can read the posts here, here, & here.) Hiking is always Matt and I’s first choice when we have a day off from classes. A group of us will all load up into a car and spend the day filled with laughter and exploring.

Q: What’s a weird/ funny fact about yourself?

All my friends make fun of me because I walk REALLY fast. They constantly imitate me and say that I look like a beach sandpiper (those tiny birds on the beach that leg’s move a mile a minute). Even Matt, my 6-foot tall boyfriend, has trouble keeping up with me. I can’t help it! I spent summers in New York City in high school.

Q: Can you explain more about what you did this summer?

This summer I interned with a start-up company in San Francisco, KiraKira3D, as a content marketing intern. (Read my post about KiraKira3D here!) In addition to this internship, I also work at a local boutique, Monkee’s of Charlottesville. Both were incredible experiences I wouldn’t have changed for the world! Below are some of the posts I wrote while working at Monkee’s this summer.

Q: Why the name What the Clique?

I started blogging as a tiny middle schooler in 2011 and have never looked back. Blogging was my outlet and I admired and was in awe of all trendy and chic influencers.

I had the passion, but now I had to come up with a name! It only took me one day to come up with the name What the Clique. I was heavily bullied in middle school, (like to the extent someone would get expelled in today’s world) it stripped every ounce of my self-esteem and severely impacted my childhood. From my point of view, the girls who bullied me were under the “command” of one ring leader. She was the leader of the “clique.”

As I’ve gotten older the name What the Clique has taken on a new form. I now interpret it as a title of confidence. I don’t allow people to come into my life who bring a negative presence. I’ve had to deal with more than my fair share! I strive for relationships that bring meaning to my life, not drama.
